Наиболее авторитетным источником по форме одежды Императорской гвардии Наполеона I является французское издание Люсьена Руссело "Французская армия, ее форма, ее вооружение, ее снаряжение". Императорской гвардии посвящена только часть штаншетов,связанных с наполеоновской эпохой - 26 штук из 68.
Ниже в перечне по полкам после названия полка указаны номера планшетов. Каждый планшет представляет собой сдвоенный лист рисунков, к которым приложен сопроводительный текст.
Перечень планшетов
Пешие гренадеры - 40 и 60; пешие егеря - 58; фузелеры-гренадеры и фузелёры-егеря - 101; моряки - 31 и 32, конные гренадеры - 23 и 45; конные егеря - 69, 70, 83 и 94; драгуны - 13 и 53; польские уланы - 43, 65 и 75; «красные уланы» - 68 и 88; саперы - 103; отборные жандармы - 95, пешая артиллерия - 85; конная артиллерия - 60 и 74, артиллерийский обоз - 80 и 106
К сожалению, труд. Руссело не охватил все части Императорской гвардии: за его пределами остались большая часть Молодой гвардии, а также форма частей 1813...1814 гг.
По ряду полков остались не
законченными сведения по полному набору званий (рядовые, унтер-офицеры, офицеры, голова колонны, а также велиты и чины рот или эскадронов Молодой гвардии).
Тем не менее, работа Руссело
представляет собой первоклассный источник
сведеиий по форме одежды, а кроме того, одновременно является образцом методического подхода к изучению истории формы одежды.
